Contract Title:
Construction of Upstream Water Supply Scheme for Kapcherop Indigenous People
1.
The Government of Kenya (GoK) has
received financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the Water and
Sanitation Services Improvement Programme Additional Financing (WaSSIP AF)
and intends to apply part of the proceeds toward payments under the contract
for Construction of Upstream Water Supply Scheme for Kapcherop Indigenous
People. Contract No. LVNWSB/WaSSIP-AF/Kapcherop-II/2014
2.
The Lake Victoria North Water Services Board, a
state corporation in the Ministry of Environment, Water and Natural Resources
(MEWNR), now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for Construction of
Upstream Water Supply Scheme for Kapcherop Indigenous People. Contract
No. LVNWSB/WaSSIP AF/Kapcherop-II/2014
3.
The works involve but not limited to the
following:
a. Intake
works-Construction of weir and filtration system, 300m3 sedimentation tank,
spring box, access road and parking area, storm water drains, guard house,
solar lighting provisions and sanitation facilities (soak pit and septic tank).
Raw water mains- 150mm diapvc pipe, 2km length.
b. Treatment
Works-Construction of 150m3 clean water tank, dosing unit, access road and
parking area, storm water drains guard house, operators house (chemical store,
office, operators room), solar lighting provisions and sanitation facilities
(soak pit and septic tank).
c. Storage
Tanks-Construction of Water storage tanks as follows: Kipteber
(50m3),Kiplegeted (50m3),Laiwa (10m3),Kamakitwa (10m3), Kipsero (10m3), Kalbul
(10m3),Kona nne (10m3), and Mois Girls Kapcherop (100m3)
d. Pipelines-Construction
of Transmission/distribution lines in UPVC/GI with diameters ranging from 50mm
-200mm approx 43km long

Bidding will be conducted through the
National Competitive Bidding procedures as specified in the World Bank’s
Guidelines: Procurement of Goods, Works and Non-Consulting Services under
IBRD Loans and IDA Credits & Grants by World Bank Borrowers published by
the Bank in May 2004 and revised in January 2011 (“Procurement Guidelines”),
and is open to all eligible bidders as defined in the Procurement Guidelines.
The Bidder’s attention is drawn to paragraphs 1.6 and 1.7 of the guidelines on
the World Bank’s policy on conflict of interest.

and inspect the bidding documents during office hours at the
address given below from 0800 hours to 1700 hours local time from Monday to
Friday, except during lunch hour (1300 hours to 1400 hours), during weekends
and public holidays.
6.
A complete set of bidding documents in English
language may be purchased by interested eligible bidders upon the submission of
a written application to the address below and upon payment of a non-refundable
fee of KES 1,000 (or equivalent in freely convertible currency).
The method of payment will be cash (deposit to KCB Account
no. 243673724) or banker’s cheque from a reputable bank in Kenya.
7.
There shall be a pre-bid meeting and
site visit to the proposed project site on 19th September 2014 to be
held starting from the Water offices in Kapcherop town at 10.00 am.
8.
Bids must be delivered to the address below on
or before 7th October 2014 Electronic bidding will not be
permitted. Late bids will be rejected. Bids will be publicly opened in the
presence of the bidders’ designated representatives and anyone who choose to
attend at the address below at 12:05pm local time on 7th October
2014
9.
All bids must be accompanied by a Bid
Security of 1% (one percent) of the bid price in form of a bank
guarantee.
